Don't let other people or the media make you believe investing is too complicated to manage on your own. Investing in the stock market can be as easy as opening an investing account and buying an index fund. Unless you want to, you don't need to concern yourself with picking individual stocks, timing the market, or watching your investments daily.

Unfortunately many Canadians go to their bank trusting that they will act in their best interest. But the fees your investments pay on bank invested mutual funds are on average 10x higher than investing in similar funds yourself.

Don't give your money to someone else. With a small amount of time to setup your accounts, you'll be paying yourself dividends.
